UPHOLSTERY

A piece of furniture can be given a completely different look by the way in which it is upholstered. The application of, for example, an English seam or a double stitching, possibly in a contrasting colour, often gives a more sophisticated appearance.

The backs of the seat elements can be embellished with buttons, deeper or shallower stripes, intermediate seams or a (semi-)rounded top. In this way, a rich variation of styles can be created on the single basis of the standard element.
